For use in cider-making to subdue some wild yeasts and bacteria and reduce the likelihood of cider spoilage. The tablets can also be dissolved in water to produce a sterilising solution for cleaning fermentation equipment and for use when rinsing bottles.
Directions for use in cider:
Ratio: Low acid juice, 3 teaspoons per gallon. Average acid juice, 2 teaspoons per gallon. High acid juice, not required.
Dissolve in a little warm juice (or water). Add to the juice in your fermenter. After 24 hours add yeast and prime your airlock.
For sterilising:
Make solution by adding 5 teaspoons to 1 pint of hot water
